Real Estate Fund Controller
Job Description
Our client, a global real estate investment company, manages real estate investments across multiple locations for the Group. They seek an experienced Manager to act as a Fund Controller: oversee, coordinate and control their portfolio of real estate and private equity investments. You will be responsible for the financial and reporting responsibilities for real estate funds and their subsidiaries.
The position requires someone with strong alternative funds experience, ideally within real estate, who is able to communicate effectively, understand the different relationships and stakeholders in the lifecycle of real estate funds.
You will join a solid, experience and stable team managing the fund operations of these alternative funds and their underlying structures. There will be plenty of contact with the deal teams, portfolio managers and asset management teams, so you will be exposed to the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the business.
Responsibilities include:
• Ownership of financial control and reporting of a mixed portfolio of real estate investments, including funds and the underlying assets
• Develop, build a relationship with the service providers and foster an environment of trust and mutual benefit
• Oversight of the (fund) accounting functions performed by third party providers
• Review of monthly, quarterly accounts of Funds, SPVs and subsidiaries in compliance with Lux GAAP and IFRS
• Preparing and reviewing fund flows for various activities including closings, upstreams, downstreams, exits and refinancing
• Responsible for the annual statutory audit of accounts for funds and Luxembourg companies
• Coordinate the financial and regulatory reporting for these funds
• Performing profitability analysis and monitoring the fund performance
• Understand and advise on the impact or regulatory changes on the funds and prepare reports for management and clients
• Liaise with other Controllers and acquisition teams on additions to the funds
• Providing operational risk assessments of current processes and identifying issues
Candidate Requirements
Requirement:
• ACCA or similar professional qualification
• 5-8 years of real estate experience in a controlling or accounting function with Big 4 and asset management experience if preferred.
• Knowledge of Luxembourg real estate funds and currently working in Luxembourg is essential
• Audit background preferred
• Strong experience of Lux GAAP is preferred
• Fluent English is essential
