Senior In-house Legal Counsel - AIF services
Job Description
Are you a highly experienced senior legal counsel, looking for a (senior) management level role in a prestigious and positive organization? Are you an expert in alternative funds, and looking for a business orientated position focused on legal advisory, commercial contracts, financial services regulation, where you can advise your internal clients on a range legal issues? In the role of Senior Legal Counsel, you will be the trusted legal advisor to fund services and AIFM businesses, maximising operational opportunity through the careful control of legal risk.
You will report to the Group General Counsel, and enjoy managing and developing a small team of lawyers.
You will:
• Provide commercially pragmatic guidance and support on a range of legal issues relevant to the funds business area, from contract negotiations, regulatory queries from the compliance team, data protection, ensuring a strong relationship with the business as a true partner
• Represent the company in commercial negotiations with third parties
• Provide legal support to ongoing projects
• Manage a team and ensure the effective development of team members
• Monitor regulatory / legal developments in the works of alternative fund regulation, ensuring awareness within the business at management level
• Work alongside other teams, such as the Compliance team and Risk team.
• Work on ways to minimise legal risk to the business
• Manage relationships and budgets with external counsel on any outsourced matters
• Work on local and global projects
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will:
• Already work (or have worked) in Luxembourg in a legal advisory position within the financial services industry, ideally in a PSF, fund services company, ManCo or law firm
• Possess a local or European legal qualification, with at least 10 years’ experience as a lawyer
• Possess and expert grasp of the legal issues affecting the Luxembourg funds industry, and broader relevant regulatory knowledge
• Possess excellent regulatory knowledge with the ability to manage legal risks accordingly
• Be an experienced people manager, well organized, and able to manage relationships
• Possess fluent English and at least intermediate French for this English speaking environment.
