Chief Risk Officer - Europe
Job Description
Our client is looking for a Chief Risk Officer for their Luxembourgish entity, who will act as the CRO not only for the local entity, but also across all of its subsidiaries across Europe.
You will also be the Head of Risk Management for the branch of the overseas parent entity.
This is an amazing opportunity for someone with excellent knowledge of European banking regulation, ideally gained in a corporate investment banking background, or private banking (but it will not suit a CRO coming from asset management or other investment funds context).
The role covers all aspects of financial and non-financial risk, managing a strong team of 10 locally (and more overseas), and taking responsibility for the quality of reporting across ICAAP, ILAAP, and for the Basel framework implementation (CRD IV,CRR), etc.)
You will be responsible for the bank's development plan and strategy, and a chairperson or key member of various Business Committees representing the risk function.
This is a superb opportunity to work in an English speaking environment, with a business that values the risk function, and has strong stability locally.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
Currently work in Luxembourg, London, or a major EU capital as a CRO or Deputy CRO, probably with a minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, with no maximum.
Have excellent up to date knowledge of regulations relevant to banking in Luxembourg, ideally in a corporate investment banking context, or private banking.
Possess the ability to interact positively and effectively with regulators (the BCL, CSSF…)
You will be a risk all-rounder, being as comfortable with financial risks (liquidity risk, credit risk, etc.) as you are with operational and other non-financial risks
You will have experience managing large teams both locally but also internationally, such as within international branches or subsidiaries
You will speak fluent English, and ideally possess skills in another European language.
True SME status on issues such as CRD IV, CRR, EMIR, MIFID, and with the ICAAPP and ILAAPP process and reporting
If this describes you, contact us now with your CV for a confidential discussion by applying.
Unfortunately, applicants who do not possess the relevant skills and fulfil the experience criteria will not receive an acknowlegment.
